Spark your imagination. Indulge your curiosity. The Museum of Science and Industry is the place to see, feel, and experience the wonders of science. Fourteen acres of hands-on exhibits await you! Immerse yourself in the amazing story of the U-505 submarine, (a National Historic Landmark and the only German U-boat captured in World War II). In the 35,000-square-foot exhibit, you’ll see more than 200 artifacts, and test your skills in dynamic interactives. In the optional overboard tour you’ll learn what life was like for the crew.
That’s not all! Explore the technologies on a 727 jet and discover the scientific principles behind air travel. Create your own toy top with the help of robots working in an automated toy factory. Learn the secrets of DNA and witness baby chicks pecking through their shells. In the classic Coal Mine, descend 50 feet in a real hoist to the bottom of the mineshaft. Or, travel to far-away places in the Museum’s Omnimax® theater.

Directions:
Take CTA: Metra trains stop at the 57th Street station, just two blocks from the Museum’s north entrance. Buses #2, #6, #10, or #28 also have convenient stops two blocks away from the Museum.
Note: The Go Chicago Card entitles you to free general admission. Tickets to the U-505 on-board tour, special exhibitions and Omnimax® films must be purchased separately. For express entry and to redeem your card please proceed to the Will Call desk in the Museum’s Great Hall.
