On the shores of Lake Michigan lies a gateway to an underwater world unlike anything you’ve ever seen, heard, or touched. Sharks patrol, jellies pulse, and fishes from around the world school together. Shedd Aquarium is the destination where guests become explorers.

Have you ever head-bobbed with a blue iguana on a desert island? Gotten eye-to-eye with a piranha in the Amazon? Or followed a sea turtle as she cruised through the Caribbean? With more than 25,000 animals representing 1,500 species, it’s all possible at Shedd.

You can even have an up-close and personal encounter with dozens of sharks in Wild Reef. Floor-to-ceiling exhibit windows give you a diver’s-eye view of a Philippines coral reef, teeming with live corals and more than 500 species of reef fishes of all shapes, colors and sizes.

Strap a mask and flippers onto your imagination and chart a course to Shedd, the World’s Aquarium.

Winter weekdays, Labor Day–Memorial Day:
Daily 9:00 am–5:00 pm
Winter weekends and holidays:
9:00 am–6:00 pm
Summer: Memorial Day–Labor Day
Daily 9:00 am–6:00 pm
Closed: Christmas Day. All holidays are subject to change without notice.

Directions:
Take CTA: Red, Orange, or Green Line to the Roosevelt Road/Museum Campus stop. From Roosevelt Road take eastbound CTA bus #12. From State Street downtown, North Michigan Avenue, or north side of Chicago, take CTA bus #146 Marine Michigan.

Note:
Proceed to the will-call line at the Shedd Aquarium to redeem your card for admission. The Go Chicago Card is accepted until 5:30 pm; during all other times standard admission will apply. On rare occasions this attraction closes early due to private functions, outside of the control of Go Chicago Card. The Oceanarium portion of the aquarium will be closed for renovation from Labor Day 2008 until Memorial Day 2009.
