As of January 1, 2008, all of Illonois’ bars, restaurants, and sports stadiums must be smoke-free. The city has already banned smoking at beaches, parks, and playgrounds. Matt B. over at The Chicago Traveler and Chris at Chicago Hot Blog have already blogged about the new smoking ban, which has caused a stir among Chi-Town’s smoking population. What do you think of the new smoking ban? Leave a comment and let us know!

Maribel, I agree with you. Smoking is pretty gross, plus it’s a major health hazard. I don’t get the appeal.

Thanks so much for the link - There’s been a bit of discussion on my post already, positive and negative. Generally the non-smokers think it’s good, and the smokers don’t like it - though I have met some smokers who do agree.

This is a hot button topic for sure. But, as a non-smoker — I’m thrilled about being about to go into a bar or club and not have my contacts dry out from all that smoking– plus a lot of establishments have opened up heated outdoor porch areas for smokers which I think is a vast improvement. Let the smokers do their thing outside and let the non-smokers enjoy some fresh air — plus, I’m sure smokers who decide to go non-smoking will appreciate being able to go to a bar and not be tempted.

I guess single smokers might like it better — get a chance to actually hear their smoker-to-be without all the noise :D

And thanks for stopping by Chris!
